Police have recovered 25 kilos of the drug

Some 2 million € worth of heroin have been recovered by National Police in Madrid after the packages were delivered by error to the Spanish capital’s central wholesale market, Mercamadrid, amongst the cargo of bananas which the drugs gang had used to smuggle them into the country.

Spanish police have intercepted a two-tonne shipment of cocaine, smuggled into the country from Colombia.

The drugs, which Spanish media reports say were worth 70m euros (£62.8m), were hidden beneath a consignment of thousands of cut flowers.

They were discovered by police in an operation code-named “Flower Power” at Foronda airport, in the Basque Country.

Spain’s interior ministry has released pictures showing how the drugs were packed into the base of wooden pallets.

More than 200 kilos have been seized at the port in Algeciras and 24 suspects, including port staff, have been taken into custody

The Civil Guard have released details of an anti-drugs operation against a network of smugglers linked to the port in Algeciras which has seen the arrest of 24 suspects and more than 200 kilos of cocaine seized by officers. The total amount is 213 kilos, and Europa Press reports that 13 of the suspects in custody are workers employed at the port.

The consignment was brought into port in Sagunto and 12 suspects are now in custody

A consignment of cocaine with a street value going into the millions has been found hidden amongst a cargo of bananas at the port in Sagunto, Valencia. A total of 228 kilos of cocaine have been seized. The Interior Ministry said all 12 members of the drugs network responsible for smuggling the cocaine into Spain have been taken into custody, with arrests taking place in Murcia, Málaga and Segovia.

The child has made a full recovery, but two people have now been arrested

A three year old girl was admitted to the Costa del Sol Hospital in Marbella last Sunday night after eating cake which had been made with vodka and marijuana.

There are contradictory versions about exactly what happened, but it is clear that the Local Police received an emergency call on Sunday from Nueva Andalucía. Once in the property they called an ambulance, and the child is now back home after undergoing detoxification treatment.

She was in a wheelchair with 4.3 kilos of cocaine strapped to her body

The Civil Guard say they have arrested a 92 year old drug smuggler who was taken into custody at Barajas Airport last Friday after landing at the Spanish capital from Sao Paulo in Brazil. The wheelchair-bound pensioner was found to have 4.3 kilos of cocaine strapped to her body, and was due to fly on with her companion to Tenerife.

Customs and the Guardia Civil have found two tons of hashish hidden in a false bottom of a pleasure boat that docked this morning in the port at Roquetas del Mar.

Three men on board and one man from Roquetas have been arrested. The operation was launched after the Guardia Civil tracked a small boat leaving a Morroccan beach and heading straight for Spain.

35 kilos of the drug were found hidden in the brake system of a lorry in Toledo

National Police in Spain have recovered one of Europe’s biggest hauls of heroin so far this year: 35 kilos of the drug found hidden in the hydraulic brake system of a lorry parked at a service station in Seseña, Toledo.

Three Civil Guard are amongst the 8 suspects arrested for smuggling the drugs into Galicia

Three Civil Guard are reported to be amongst eight suspects arrested in a National Police operation in Galicia which has seized more than 800 kilos of cocaine and smashed the smugglers’ entry point in Puerto de Marín, Pontevedra. One of the suspects is reported by EFE to be the sergeant in charge of the Civil Guard barracks in Puerto de Marín, and it’s understood a reserve sub-lieutenant is also in custody along with another Guardia.

Officers arrested three Bulgarians, a Turkish national and a Spaniard as part of the operation, said the statement from the Civil Guard.

“This is one of the biggest seizures of heroin made over the last few years in Spain,” said the statement.

The drugs had been smuggled into Spain in a luxury car registered in Bulgaria, concealed in secret compartments built into one of the doors and the back seat of the vehicle, said the statement.

Police in the northeastern region of Catalonia broke up a drug trafficking gang that was also involved in the distribution of counterfeit bills, arresting 23 north Africans and seizing EUR 260,000 in cash and 224 kilogrammes (493 pounds) of hashish.

Another operation, in the southern Costa del Sol region, led to the arrest of a Frenchman and an Italian and the seizure of 2.1 tonnes of hashish, EUR 120,000 in cash and several weapons.

Police in Spain say they have arrested a man who received a postal delivery of a 42-piece dinner set made with 20kg (44lb) of cocaine.

The illicit cups, plates and bowls were dispatched in February from Maracaibo in Venezuela to Barcelona, via London.

Spain is the main European entry point for illicit cocaine.

Police say the suspect may have been recruited by Venezuelan gangsters, who would have collected the package and then extracted the illegal drugs.
