New male helpline opens in Spain on Friday
The new service is being established by the Spanish Ministry for Equality
The Spanish Ministry for Equality’s phone helpline for men opens on Friday this week. Calls to 900 21 00 21 will not be charged, and the lines will be open Monday to Friday from 9am to 11pm.
The service has a budget of 1.2 million € and annual funding of 420,000 €, and will attempt to answer callers questions about sexual identity and relationship problems.
News of the service was given by the Government Delegate with Responsibility for Domestic Violence, Miguel Lorente, who said that advice on paternity permissions, separations and divorce, custody of children and similar questions would all be answered.
He said although aimed at men, calls from women and professionals would be welcomed, and indeed experience had shown that 25% of the calls could be expected from workers in the health and education sectors.
The phone will be manned by a team of eight experts in the field. (Via Original Article)
