More immigrant arrivals off the Almería coast

108 immigrants have been intercepted in the area in just 24 hours

Five patera small boats carrying 79 immigrants were intercepted on Saturday off the coast of Almería.

A total of 7 boats carrying 108 immigrants arrived on the Almería coastline in the 24 hours to Saturday.

There was one child among the latest arrivals which saw 70 men and 8 women being rescued between 1pm and 6pm on Saturday. All the travellers were from the Magreb countries, with the first boat being spotted when 12 miles off the Cabo de Gata, with the second spotted 14 miles to the SE. The last three boats were spotted in the same area just 8 miles off shore.

The Red Cross says all the group are in good health, and have now been taken to Almería port where work on identification and repatriation will start. (Via Typically Spanish)
