6 January 2010 314 views 3 Comments

The first scheduled passenger service between Madrid and Dubai is set to begin from August 1, when Emirates, the United Arab Emirates’ international airline, will start non stop flights daily from Dubai to Madrid. This will make Madrid the twenty-fifth European destination to be covered by the airlines.

Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al-Maktoum, chairman and chief executive of the Emirates Airline and Group, said that this new route has its significance as it will be the only scheduled passenger service between the two destinations. He also added that it would also enable passengers to travel further, especially to places in Asia and the Far East.

The flight EK141will have a departure time of 0725 hours from Dubai and reach Madrid at 1320 hours, while EK 142, the return flight, will depart from Madrid at 1615 hours and reach Dubai early next morning at 0105 hours.

It would have 183 seats in the economy class, 42 in the business class and 12 seats in the first class, and would be served by an A330-200.

Emirates SkyCargo has two 747 freighter flights to Zaragoza per week, through which tons of cargo is transported, but this would be the first scheduled passenger flight from Dubai to Spain.
