The DNA on more than 1,500 criminals is now being held in the city

Recent legal reforms in Spain have allowed the security services in Málaga to establish a DNA database which already holds the data on more than 1,500 criminals who have been arrested across the province.

Diario Sur reports that the police say the database has already proved useful in some arrests. Access to the data is restricted, but it is available across the different security forces.

Under the Spanish law the police can take a DNA sample from those arrested for serious crimes which affect, life, sexual freedom and property. (Via Typicaly Spanish)
