A study in Menorca saw British drivers implicated in 12% of road accidents

A study into the road accidents on the island of Menorca over the past decade has shown that a British driver was implicated in 12.2% of them.
2,294 accidents were recorded between 1998 and 2008 and 280 of these saw a British driver.

The fact is that the British make up only 3.6% of the population of the island, but also 71% of the tourists. Further investigation indicates the accidents tend to occur where the drivers can revert to their British habit of keeping to the left, such as on dual carriageways. Roundabouts also proved dangerous for the British drivers.

The study on Mallorca, carried out by the INTRA company in collaboration with the traffic authorities and the British community, is thought to be the first of its type in Spain. (Via Original Article)
